My house is wired with aluminum wire, is this safe?

May 29, 2015

Aluminum is not safe because it is more fragile than copper and can loosen or break at contact, thus creating a fire hazard. It is common for aluminum wire to be insulated with fabric. The best procedure to tell if you have copper or aluminum wiring in your home is to strip the wire. If you would like to find out if you copper or aluminum wiring, or if you would like to have your aluminum wiring replaced with copper, please contact our team at Postma Electrical Services Ltd.
